Delivery Area

We can deliver plants and seeds to any country within the European Union and many other countries. However some restrictions apply so please contact us before ordering outside the E.U.

Some countries (eg USA) will only accept bare-rooted plants, with phyto-sanitary certificates. The plants travel well this way, but we cannot be responsible for any delays caused by customs.

Phyto-Sanitary Certificates

As from April 2013 we are obliged to charge 11.43€ for our phyto-sanitary certificates which are necessary for all seed and plant orders sent to the USA and Japan, and plant orders to Norway and Russia. This charge will be added to your order at checkout.

For US customers you have the possibility to obtain a Small Lots of Seed Permit free of charge. It is valid for three years and may be used several times. It is easy to obtain from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service you can apply online or by post. There is a very comprehensive description of how to obtain it and use it from the following site. Once you have obtained your permit place your order in the usual manner, send us a copy of the three pages of the permit and the mailing label. We will then reimburse the charge for the phyto-sanitary certificate before sending out your order.

Delivery times

Seed Orders: we make every effort to despatch seed orders within 48 hours of being received here. You will receive an email to inform you when your parcel has been despatched. If you have not received your order within 28 days please contact us.

Plant orders: are despatched from October onwards. Orders are dealt with in the order received and are sent out at the beginning of the week following reception of the order, unless there are adverse weather conditions. You will receive an email to inform you when your parcel has been despatched. Parcels over 2kg may be tracked using the on-line postal service.

PLEASE NOTE: Plants will be sent out in the best possible condition. Depending on the weather and the time of year this may mean longer delays to certain plant orders, in which case please be patient and we will do our best to inform you within a week of your order if it is going to take longer than normal.

It is possible that we run out of stock of certain plants or seeds after the order has been processed. We will substitute similar plants or seeds unless otherwise stated on the order form. If you do not wish to receive substitutes please state 'No subs' in the comment box or indicate acceptable substitutes if you so wish.  We reserve the right to make our own substitutes in the absence of other instructions.

Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting your privacy.

When you order we will collect certain personal data from you which allows us to process and fulfil your orders. However we will never give out your details to any third party.

Our descriptions and photographs are for guidance only.  As our plants are hand pollinated there will always be a certain amount of variation in colour, shape and size of flowers in any particular series.

Plants are sent by post (Colissimo 48 hrs within France). Please inform us within 3 days of receipt of any damage on arrival, and let us have a photograph if at all possible. No responsibility can be accepted for failure after planting.

Certain countries, eg the USA require plants to be sent bare-rooted. Barnhaven will undertake the lengthy preparation for these orders but unfortunately  cannot accept any responsibility for plants that are delayed in the post or by customs.

As planting and growing conditions are outside our control we cannot accept responsibilty for poor or lack of germination for our seeds. Please contact us for advice.
