Each seed packet contains approximately 35 seeds except where otherwise stated. There is no minimum order for seeds. Please follow our sowing instructions carefully and keep your seeds refrigerated if not sowing directly.

There is a MINIMUM ORDER of 6 plants - not necessarily of the same kind!

Our special plant packaging enables us to ensure that your plants arrive in excellent condition. Each packet contains three plants in 7cm pots. These are mature plants ready to be planted into the ground or window boxes and containers. Please note that hellebore plants may sometimes be sent bare-rooted in order to keep postage costs down.

Delivery area

We can deliver plants and seeds to any country within the European Union and many other countries. However some restrictions apply so please contact us before ordering outside Europe.

Some countries (amongst them the USA, Canada, Russia, Norway, Japan, South Korea) will only accept bare-rooted plants, with phyto-sanitary certificates. The plants travel well this way, but we cannot be responsible for any delays caused by customs. You will be charged an extra 1€ per plant towards the cost of the bare-rooting preparation.

Phyto-Sanitary Certificates

We are now obliged to charge 11.43€ for our phyto-sanitary certificates which are necessary for all seed and plant orders sent to the USA and Japan, and plant orders to Norway. This charge will be added to your order at checkout.

For US customers you have the possibility to obtain a Small Lots of Seed Permit free of charge. It is valid for three years and may be used several times. It is easy to obtain from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and you can apply online or by post. There is a very comprehensive description of how to obtain it and use it from the following site. Once you have obtained your permit place your order in the usual manner, send us a copy of the three pages of the permit and the mailing label. We will then reimburse the charge for the phyto-sanitary certificate before sending out your order.

We are a cottage industry and our barrels are not bottomless. Some series are always in short supply because yields are low. Murphy's law states that the series in highest demand are the ones with the lowest yields. It helps us enormously if you are prepared to accept substitutes. If you are ordering by post or fax please indicate acceptable substitutes on your order form. If ordering online please add a note in the comment box if you so wish. We reserve the right to make our own substitutes in the absence of other instructions.

How to pay

We can accept payment by Sterling or French Euro cheques, Credit Card (MasterCard or Visa only), Paypal or bank transfer. Card payments and bank transfers will be made in Euros. Payment by bank transfer is now available for on-line ordering.

Advance orders

If you would like to book seeds or plants for the next season (i.e. when the new crop becomes available in the autumn), please e-mail us at , or make a note on your paper order form but don't send any money yet. We will contact you when the seeds or plants are ready to let you know how much you owe.

Delivery times

Seed Orders: we make every effort to despatch seed orders within 48 hours of being received here, but we sometimes get a bottleneck at busy times, especially early in the season. If you have not received your order within 28 days please contact us.

Plant orders: are generally despatched from October onwards. Orders are dealt with in the order received and are sent out at the beginning of the week following reception of the order, unless there are adverse weather conditions. You will receive an email to inform you when your parcel has been despatched. Parcels over 2kg may be tracked using the on-line postal service.

PLEASE NOTE: Plants will be sent out in the best possible condition. Depending on the weather and the time of year this may mean longer delays to certain plant orders, in which case please be patient and we will do our best to inform you within a week of your order if it is going to take longer than normal.

Plants are sent by post (Colissimo 48 hrs within France). Please inform us within 3 days of receipt of any damage on arrival. No responsibility can be accepted for failure after planting.
