Primula vulgaris - Wild primrose

The well-loved common, wild primrose, a pale moonlight yellow beauty with modest perfume. Sometimes known as the English primrose though it is native to many countries in western and southern Europe. Hand pollinated for many years so you can be sure no woods have been plundered.

Thy smiles I note, sweet early Flower,
That peeping from thy rustic bower
The festive news to earth dost bring,
